Adams named POY, Webb gets top coach honor

CREEDMOOR — Kaitlyn Adams from Bunn was named the Northern Carolina Conference girls Player of the Year and Paul White from Webb was tapped NCC Coach of the Year.

Adams led the Lady Wildcats to a 14-11 overall record this season. The freshman averaged 15.4 points per game and scored 385 points this season. She finished with 177 rebounds, 53 assists, 59 steals and 38 blocks.

White led the Lady Warriors to a 12-0 record in the NCC and finished with a 20-6 overall record. J.F. Webb fell in the first round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association 2A playoffs.

Webb placed three on the All-Conference team.

Israel Thorpe, a freshman, scored 383 points to go with 72 rebounds, 123 assists, 107 steals and 20 blocks. Senior Naiashia Latta completed the season with 235 points, 58 rebounds, 107 assists, 55 steals and 20 blocks. Ti’ada Tucker, a sophomore power forward, scored 351 points and finished with 74 rebounds, 28 assists, 33 steals and 12 blocks.

Halle Brown of Webb was named to the honorable mention team. Brown scored 204 points, grabbed 161 rebounds and had 14 assists and 38 blocks during her freshman season.

Kaylin Bryant from South Granville was hampered with injuries all season, but came on strong at the end of the season. Bryant, a senior, played in seven games but managed to score 100 points, grab 53 rebounds, dish nine assists and have 13 steals and six blocks. Bryant earned All-Conference honors.

Taiya Mobley was named to the honorable mention team for the Lady Vikings. Mobley also was injured most of the season. She did see action in 13 games but had 117 points, 26 rebounds, 12 assists, 22 steals and one block.

Khalia Morton led Granville Central to a 15-14 overall record this season and was named to the All-Conference team. Morton finished the season with 237 points, 263 rebounds, 38 assists, 65 steals and 102 blocks.

Jansen McFalls received honorable mention recognition. McFalls, a senior, had 217 points, 67 rebounds,16 assists, 53 steals and one block.

Another honorable mention was Coryiah White. The senior scored 158 points and had 144 rebounds, 28 assists, 71 steals and 47 blocks.

Others making the All-Conference team were Bree Crudup (Bunn), Alexis Perry (Bunn), Rylie Wade (Roanoke Rapids), Logan Abram (Roanoke Rapids), Nakira Bullock (Warren County) and Ja’lynn Fields (Louisburg).

The Honorable Mention team includes Mallori Darnell (Roanoke Rapids), Brooklin Fields (Louisburg) and Madi Leonard (Louisburg).
