The Butner Church Council food pantry at Community United Methodist Church, 507 W. E St., Butner is open on Tuesdays from 1:30-3 p.m. and Wednesdays 5-6 p.m. The pantry serves anyone in need in the Butner and Stem area every 60 days. Identification is required.

The Harris Exhibit Hall at Granville Museum, 1 Museum Lane, Oxford will extend hours to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday for the public to enjoy the new exhibit, “More Art Please.” For more information, contact 919-693-9706.

Parent and child recreation program

Creedmoor Recreation will present “Monet & Sorbet,” the first parent and child recreation program inspired by the Merlot & VanGoh sessions, and will be held at Carolina Cotton, 207 North Main St., Creedmoor on Sunday, Aug. 25 from 4-6 p.m.

The Art of Yoga at Granville Museum

The Granville Museum will host a yoga event Tuesday, Aug. 27 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at Harris Exhibit Hall, 1 Museum Lane, Oxford. Certified yoga instructor Hali Wheeler will lead the session. There will be an entry fee, which is $6 for members of the Granville County Historical Society and $8 for non-members. Part of the proceeds go to support the Granville Museum. Bring a yoga mat.

Woodland owner workshop

Woodland owners are invited to a workshop about marketing timber Thursday, Aug. 29 from 7-9 p.m. at the Granville County Expo Center, 4185 US 15, Oxford. The workshop is co-sponsored by the NC Forest Service and NC Cooperative Extension.

Presenters will include a forestry specialist (Dr. Robert Bardon, NCSU Extension Forestry), a woodland owner (Preston Floyd, 2017 NC Tree Farmer of the Year) and a registered consulting forester.

Brassfield Fire Department fundraiser

The Brassfield Fire Department, 1680 Highway 96 S., Franklinton will host a Fireman’s Day Fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 7 from 11 a.m-7 p.m.
