Butner community watch

Butner Public Safety will host its monthly community watch meeting on Thursday at the Butner Town Hall.

Information such as recent arrests, crimes and safety concerns are addressed to the public.

The city of Creedmoor has partnered with First Baptist Church in Creedmoor to host an open gym for middle and high school students during the upcoming community center construction.

Beginning April 25 open gym will be held each Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 108 S. Main St., Creedmoor.

Spring clean-up event

The Granville County Expo Center, 4185 US Highway 15, Oxford will be the site of the Spring Clean Event on Saturday, April 27 from 8 a.m.-1 p.m.

Items that can be recycled and collected include document shredding, scrap metal, broken appliances, electronics, medications, sharps, dog and cat food and other animal items such as crates, leashes and Styrofoam/polystyrene items such as packing peanuts and dry egg cartons.

Backyard compost bins and countertop collection candle caddies will be available for purchase.

Drug take-back day

The Creedmoor Police Department will sponsor a drug take-back event on April 27 from 10 a.m-2 p.m. at Walgreens, 703 N. Main St., Creedmoor to collect unused or expired prescriptions or over-the-counter medicines.

Falls Lake Academy fundraiser

The Falls Lake Academy Flight Booster Club fundraisers will be held on Saturday, April 27 from 8 a.m to noon in the Falls Lake Academy parking lot, 1701 E. Lyon Station Road, Creedmoor. For more information, contact flightcrew@fallslakeacademy.com for tickets and reserve a space.
