CREEDMOOR — Construction on the Creedmoor Cross City Trail has begun.
Construction will require lane closures throughout the project area during grading work. On U.S. 15 (Durham Avenue) and N.C. 56 (Lake Road and Wilton Avenue) the contractor is prohibited from lane closures Monday through Friday between the hours of 6-9 a.m. and 4-7 p.m. At all other times lane closures and delays should be expected, and drivers are urged to plan accordingly.
Construction of the more than three miles of sidewalks, greenways, boardwalk, and bridge will take between 12 and 16 months to complete depending on weather conditions.
The city of Creedmoor is cautioning drivers when going through the work zone, and to watch workers and equipment in the roadway. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to the posted speed limit, and any changes to the normal traffic pattern.
The city has established multiple ways for residents and motorists to keep informed of project status and potential commuting delays. Project updates will be posted on the city’s social media pages (Facebook, Twitter, NextDoor) and city website (sign up for e-notification at www.cityofcreedmoor.org/enotification by selecting “Project Updates” under the News Category). Interested people may also submit an email address directly to email@example.com to receive email blasts or call the Project Hotline number at 919-764-1006 for pre-recorded updates.
