Deputies with the Granville County Sheriff’s Office were following up on complaints from citizens about drug activity in the 9600 block of N.C. Highway 49, according to a press release.
On Aug. 19, two deputies, Sgt. Chad Coffey and Investigator Bryan Carey, approached the suspect’s home to conduct a “knock and talk” interaction with the residents, according to a press release.
As the officers approached, a man, Donnie Watins Vaugh, was leaving the home, the release said. The deputies noticed a syringe in his shirt pocket and crystal meth in his hand. He was placed in handcuffs and brought back into the home, which was searched, according to the release.
A woman in the home, Tanna Michelle Lee, told deputies she had two small bags of crystal meth in her back pocket, the release said. Deputies also found a bag of crystal meth in a bedroom dresser with digital scales and a larger bag behind a television.
Al together, about one ounce of meth was seized, the release said. The sheriff’s office said there were also more digital scales under the bed and several syringes and bags in the home.
Lee’s boyfriend, Kenneth Shane Tuck, the home’s resident, admitted he and a few friends bought the meth together, the sheriff’s office said. Tuck told the deputies that the friends were going to split the meth, and he had supplied Vaughn with the drugs officers found in his hand.
Tuck, 30, was charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver methamphetamine; maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He had a $30,000 secured bond.
