STEM — The Granville Central Panthers baseball program celebrated its accomplishments recently with a season-ending banquet.
The Panthers finished the year with a 15-9 mark and a trip to the third round of the NCHSAA 1A playoffs. Head coach Barry Moore recognized the team for their efforts this season which was highlighted by an historic 7-6 win against rival South Granville. The victory marked the first time the Panthers defeated the Vikings in 18 tries.
Moore also mentioned the Panthers’ third-place finish in the Northern Carolina Conference. The Panthers picked up notable conference wins against Louisburg and a pair of victories against conference champion Bunn.
Granville Central graduates three seniors this season and Moore said he knows he has some big shoes to fill. The Panthers lose James Marshburn, Colton Powell and Joe Delossantos. All three were important contributors for the team this year.
Wyatt Laws, Delossantos and JJ Tilley were named to the all-conference team. Marshburn, Brady Smith and Austin Falls were named to the honorable mention all-conference team.
Billy Blevins was named the team’s Most Improved Player. Hunter Tressler received the Coaches Award and Matthew Pennington earned the Panther Pride Award.
