Oxford United Methodist Church, 105 W. McClanahan St., Oxford, will host a community blood drive today from 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

Granville County Democratic Party meeting

The monthly meeting of the Granville Democratic Party will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday at Thornton Library in Oxford.

Virtual Dementia Tour

The Kerr-Tar Area Agency on Aging will conduct the Virtual Dementia Tour from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Friday, June 28 at Sarepta Baptist Church, 295 Gillis Alston Road, Warrenton.

The Virtual Dementia Tour is a sensitivity training that allows individuals to see what it might be like to live with dementia.

Caregivers, community organizations, business leaders and others are encouraged to take the tour.

Independence Day celebration

The city of Creedmoor and town of Butner, along with support from Granville County, town of Stem and city of Oxford, will host a fireworks display for the annual Fourth of July Celebration on Wednesday, July 3 at Lake Holt, Old Highway 75, Butner. Gates open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 9 p.m.

No tailgating or alcoholic beverages will be allowed. Hot dogs and soft drinks will be available for purchase.

All attendees must enter and exit through the Lake Holt entrance. Once the gates are closed, they will not reopen until the fireworks show is over.

In the event of light rain, the show will proceed as planned. No rain date will be scheduled.

July 4 picnic

The Creedmoor Lions Club will host the annual Fourth of July picnic and cake baking contest from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Lake Rogers, 1711 Lake Road, Creedmoor.

Free hot dogs, drinks and watermelon slices will be offered, and there will be live music featuring Flatbed Bluegrass Band.

The cake contest will begin at 1 p.m.
