Butner Church Council food pantry

The Butner Church Council food pantry at Community United Methodist Church, 507 W. E St., Butner is open on Tuesdays from 1:30-3 p.m. and Wednesdays 5-6 p.m. The pantry serves anyone in need in the Butner and Stem area every 60 days. Identification is required.

Voter registration workshop

All are welcome to attend a YouCanVote 90-minute workshop to learn the latest on photo ID, rules for voting and more. The local training will take place Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Thornton Public Library, 210 Main St., Oxford.

Anniversary of Bishop Albert Harrison and the Gospel Tones

Bishop Albert Harrison and the Gospel Tones will celebrate their 36th anniversary on Saturday at E.M. Rollins Elementary School, 1600 S. Garnett St. Extension, Henderson. Doors open at 5 p.m. and the program begins at 6 p.m.

Inaugural
reunion program

The Christian Harmonettes of Durham will present the first reunion program on Sunday, July 28 at 3 p.m. at New Rock Spring Christian Church, 2711 Rock Spring Church Road, Creedmoor.

Back-to-school giveaway

Mount Vernon Missionary Baptist Church will host its annual back-to-school giveaway on Saturday, Aug. 3 from 7 a.m.-1 p.m. in the South Granville High School parking lot, Highway 56, Creedmoor. School supplies, book bags, clothing and shoes for all ages and sizes will be given away. All items are free. Children must be with their parents for school supplies and book bags. 27th singing anniversary

A celebration for Sister Shirley McCaden’s 27th singing anniversary will be held Saturday, Aug. 3 at Northern Granville Middle School Auditorium, 3144 Webb School Road, Oxford.

Parent and child recreation program

Creedmoor Recreation will present “Monet & Sorbet,” the first parent and child recreation program inspired by the Merlot & VanGoh sessions, and will be held at Carolina Cotton, 207 North Main St., Creedmoor on Sunday, Aug. 4 from 4-6 p.m.

Advanced registration is required and the $50 program fee includes two reserved seats, aprons and supplies.

Community Watch meeting

Butner Public Safety will be host its monthly Community Watch meeting on Aug. 8 at 6 p.m. at the Butner Town Hall. During each of these meetings, information such as recent arrests, crimes and safety concerns are addressed to the public. Butner Public Safety also accepts any and all information or concerns from the public so that they can be resolved or addressed. For more information contact Sgt. N. Alive After Five

The next Alive After Five event will be held Aug. 15 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. in the VanNess Chevrolet Parking lot, North Main Street, Creedmoor.

The Attractions Band will provide the music. Admission is free.
