The Stem Fire Department will host a turkey shoot every Friday and Saturday night in October on Hester Road from 7-10 p.m. The cost is $5 per shot. Refreshments will be available.

South Granville High School DECA members will host a “Trick or Can” food drive for local food banks for the remainder of October. Donations can be dropped off at the SGHS office during regular hours. The address is 701 N. Crescent Drive, Creedmoor.

Cluck n’ Shuck event postponed

The new date for Cluck ‘n Shuck is being planned for March 2020. Ticket holders for the Oct. 25 event may return their tickets to the 124 Hillsboro St., Oxford Granville County Chamber of Commerce office for a full refund of the purchase price or they may retain and use their tickets in spring 2020.

Military history show

Harry Coombs and the Granville County Veterans Affairs Committee will host the 4th Annual Military History Show on Saturday from 10 a.m-4 p.m. at the Henderson-Oxford Airport, 6514 Airport Road, Oxford. The show is free and open to the public. The airport will be the setting for re-enactors, encampments, equipment, vehicles, armament and more, spanning decades of military service. There will be a silent auction with items donated by local businesses. Proceeds will benefit the Veterans Affairs Committee. BPS Operation Medicine Drop

Butner Public Safety will host its Operation Medicine Drop Take Back Event on Saturday at Butner Public Safety, 611 Central Ave., Butner from 9 a.m-1 p.m.

Creedmoor Police Operation Medicine Drop

The Creedmoor Police Department is partnering with CVS Pharmacy to host a drug take-back event on Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Bring expired or unused medication to CVS Pharmacy, 612 N. Main St., Creedmoor so that it can be safely disposed of. The Creedmoor Police Department has a permanent drop-box location at city hall, 111 Masonic St.

Granville County bull clinic scheduled

The 2019 Beef Bull Breeding Soundness Exam Clinic is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 31. The clinic will be held at the Granville County Livestock Arena located at 4200 Cannady’s Mill Road, Oxford. Dr. Tom Van Dyke and his N.C. State veterinary students will conduct the exams. The clinic will start at 8:30 a.m. and will continue until all scheduled bulls are tested. The testing fee is $10 per bull.

Cattlemen are asked to call the Granville County Cooperative Extension Center at 919-603-1350 to schedule a time for bull(s) to be tested.

Downtown Halloween trick-or-treat

Creedmoor Main Street businesses and the Creedmoor Police Department will host its downtown Halloween event on Thursday, Oct. 31, from 6-8 p.m. Members of the Creedmoor Police Department will pass out candy in front of the City Hall building at 111 Masonic St.

Trunk or treat at Butner Athletic Park

Covenant Life Church will sponsor a trunk or treat at Butner Athletic Park, 1105 W. B St., Butner on Thursday, Oct. 31 from 6 a.m-8 p.m. In addition to candy there will be free kettle corn, hot chocolate and cotton candy.

Spaghetti dinner

The Butner Knights of Columbus will sponsor an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner Nov. 1 at United Methodist Church, 507 West E. St., Butner from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Eat-in or take-out. The meal includes spaghetti, meatballs, homemade sauce, salad, bread, dessert and a drink. The cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children and kids up to age 5 are free.

Community Campfire and Movie at the Lake

The 10th annual Community Campfire and second annual Movie at the Lake will be Saturday, Nov. 2, at Lake Holt, 1200 Lake Holt Road, Butner. The campfire starts at 6 p.m. to roast marshmallows and make s’mores and the movie “Smallfoot” will begin at 7 p.m. Both activities are free. LakeSide Grill be open for both events. Basketball clinic for officials

A basketball clinic for officials will be held at Granville Central High School on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 6 p.m. Those interested in training to become a basketball official for Tri-County Officials Association can call Ronald Edwards at 919-939-1998 for more information.

Toys for Tots

Registration has begun for Toys for Tots 2019 with the Christian Faith Center of Creedmoor. The deadline is Friday, Nov. 8. Contact the main office at 919-528-1581, ext. 100 or send an email sonyaj@christianfaithcenternc.com with the following information: parent’s or legal guardian’s name, full mailing address, daytime phone number, and email address. For the child(ren), provide first/last name of child, birthdate (mm-dd-yyyy), current age and gender. Toys will only be available for ages up to 12.

Concerned Bikers Association Turkey Shoot

Granville County CBA will host their Annual Turkey Shoot at the Lodge located at 1639 NC Highway 50, Creedmoor from 7-10 p.m. on the following dates: Nov. 2, 9, 16 and 23. All rounds are $5. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. The association reserves the right to exclude any firearm.

Fall Hike at Lynch Creek

Tar River Land Conservancy will host a fall hike along Lynch Creek on scenic Lynch Creek Farm owned by TRLC supporters Bob Radcliffe and Kerry Carter on Saturday, Nov. 2 from 10 a.m. to noon. Enjoy the fall colors and learn about the conservation easement, the creek, plants, wildlife and the forests that buffer the creek. Hike level: moderate. After the hike, enjoy lunch at the cabin. Bob Radcliffe will provide an overview of the Ben Franklin Society’s “Franklin County Grist Mill Inventory” Research Project. Pre-registration required. FLA fall festival

Falls Lake Academy will host a fall festival on Saturday, Nov. 2 from 5-9:30 p.m. and will include the following: Free Trunk-or-Treat at 5 p.m. until candy is gone; carnival games and bounce house from 5-7:30 p.m.; spooky hayride 5-7:30 p.m.; zombie run 5-8:30 p.m.; haunted house 5-8:30 p.m.; Historic Hobgood Trail Ride (formerly known as Trail of Terror) from 7:30-9:30 p.m. Tickets are $1 each; wristbands available.

Health fair

A health fair will be held Saturday, Nov. 9 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Youngs Memorial Holy Church, 1379 Brookston Road, Henderson in the dining hall. Call 252-492-1610 for more information. A ZYTO health scan will be presented free to all.

Wheelous reunion
