WARRENTON — The South Granville Vikings placed four in double digits as they sailed by the Warren County Eagles 72-63 in the Jan. 3 conference matchup.

A dunk by Kobe Jones and fast break baskets by Bobby Pettiford and Wy’kise Allen set the tone early for the Vikings. Micah Jones’ triple just before the end of the quarter gave the Vikings an 18-7 lead.

Warren County responded with Andrew Smith and Joshua Robison putting the Eagles on their back in the second quarter.

South Granville continued to use the fast break to their advantage with Pettiford, Allen and Micah Jones scoring.

The Eagles may have outscored the Vikings 21-18 in the second quarter, but Warren County trailed 36-28 at the half.

The Vikings surged ahead in the third quarter outrunning the Eagles from end to end. The fast break points and dunks began to add up as South Granville led 58-47.

Despite winning the fourth quarter by 2 points the Eagles could not come up with enough offense to defeat the Vikings.
